No, I'm asking why the guy who captured Hussein is any more notable than any other guy who puts his butt on the line every day. I'm asking what, other than coincidence, makes one more special than the other.

And I'm pointing out that it's the ability to drop names that makes one hit the news, and the other not.

Not any more or less than anyone else, unless of course one or some of them did something above and beyond. Something that makes them notable more so than anyone else doing a tough job.

No, I don't think that at all. They were following orders just like the guy with the mop, or the guy at the other end of the sand box trading lead with Apu Whatshisname. The individual who "captured Saddam" was there on orders, doing what he was told. It could have been anyone. And nothing about that job was any more dangerous than a lot of others. Far less dangerous than a lot of others in fact. Truth of the matter is, without the intelligence guy, the guy in the fire fight across the way, and yes, even the guy manning the mop, Jeans Cruz wouldn't have been where he was, when he was.

He's notable only because of coincidence. No more important than anyone else, and no less. His employment status isn't any more an issue than the employment status of the 1,357,901 other soldiers who came home and can't find jobs. And yes, I just pulled that number out of my butt, but no matter what the actual figure is, the premise is the same.

The ONLY reason we're hearing about Jeans Cruz today is because someone can staple a recognizable name to his chest and hold him up as a poster boy for whatever political agenda they're trying to buttault our brains with. It's a disgusting play for emotion, and it's demeans every other vet who fought, came home, and can't find a job. No, it demeans ALL veterans, regardless of their employment status.
