I've been running into plenty of problems on the GWB, and it leads me to suspect they've got more issues than they admit with their EZ-Pbutt readers. I have a valid EZ-Pbutt account but frequently ride across the bridge in vehicles that are not "tied into" the system. (I hold the pbutt against the windshield when going through). I've run into far too many cases in the past few months where I (or the car's registered owner) get a bill from the EZ-Pbutt folk claiming we went through an EZ-Pbutt lane improperly, and demanding the $6 ("cash") payment plus a $25 service fee. After way, way, too much correspondence they've let me simply kick in the $5 (ez-pbutt) amount back in the mail. Anyway... what I suspect is happening is that they're not reliably reading the pbuttes, but have to use their fallback of using the photos of the license plates (and then querying DMV-EZ-pbutt-etc.). With most people this is a distinction without a difference, since they've only got one pbutt and it's tied to the one car. But in my case, since I'm using other vehicles (which do NOT have ez-pbutt accounts a) they send off bills. Anyone else out there with a similar background seeing similar problems? Thanks. a I'd guess, guess... that if cars cross registered to another ez-pbutt account go through without a transponder reading, that other account would get billed. But I've got no personal experience with that. Knowledge may be power, but communications is the key to foil spammers, my address has been double rot-13 encoded
