Michael Price Indeed! We see just that with the recent transit strike: cars all over, jams galore and accidents too -- folks forgot how to drive! But they are indeed a large part of NYC traffic. I guess he was referring to the Taxi and Limousine Commission...the usual complaint is that blacks don't get no service -- but, then again, look at who's robbing cabbies all the time! Even black cabbies avoid black pbuttengers...why take the risk? But that's political correctness for ya. Which is why these jobs go to immigrants who've not much of a choice otherwise. And this in turn means less qualified drivers -- it's almost a requirement of the job that you CAN'T speak English! Are you referring to the medallion system? I agree that something's extremely odorous about medallion holders living off the sweat of actual drivers...but that's capitalism for you. So why "price-gouging"? I'm no cabbie, and have no interests in the matter -- don't even use 'em, probably only once every seven years (honest!) -- but it stinks that everybody gets to take advantage of things ALL THE f***ING TIME but cabbies can't even do it once in a great blue moon. 100% agreed (apologies to Mr. Kamen for his erudition).
