It depends on the pay being cut. I stand by my statement that a cut from $10MM to $9MM is not drastic. That same ten percent cut from $8.00 per hour to $7.20 per hour IS drastic. I'm a lot closer to that $8-hr pay rate than to $10MM. Pay raises do not help the unmotivated remain unmotivated; they help the worker buy food, clothing and medicine. That last million dollars in executive pay won't buy its recipient necessities but additional luxuries. such as a second, third or fourth home, a snazzier car, or a few more mutual fund units.
