Why do you think these guys make the big bucks? Because they earn it! Pay raises motivate. I used to work for a Japanese bank. The supply clerk was a loser who didn't do anything unless he was told three or four times (the only reason why he wasn't fired was because it was a Japanese corporation). He went years without any increase because he wouldn't do anything. Should he receive a pay raise because the executive officers got them? I never said that luxury items are necessary. I never made any such comparison. I'm saying that if you're making X dollars a year and you want (or need) more, then you should take the initiative and do something about it.
