VOICES IN SOLIDARITY WITH CUBA

On Saturday, May 21 join with Cuba solidarity activists from across the United States, who are gathering for the biannual meeting of the National Network on Cuba (NNOC) in a solidarity rally and evening of Music, Poetry, and Dancing. Dinner and drinks will be served. $10 with dinner. No one turned away for lack of funds. Proceeds to Cuban 5 Commissary.

Washington's 46-year old drive to destroy the Cuban Revolution, stepped-up under the Bush Administration, has come up against the historic changes sweeping Latin America which is registering increased continental solidarity with Cuba and against the U.S. economic and political war. Most troubling for Washington is the deepening radical social transformations in Venezuela under the Bolivarian government of Hugo Chavez. Today, in the same spirit of internationalist solidarity identified with Ernesto Che Guevara, over 30,000 Cuban doctors, dentists, nurses, teachers, and athletic trainers are providing free, high-quality medical care to millions of working-clbutt and impoverished Venezuelans and decisively aiding in the eradication of illiteracy. Cuba and Venezuela have forged a politically and economically powerful alliance of solidarity that is increasingly attractive to the oppressed and exploited majority in Latin America, Central America, and the Caribbean. It is this powerful political fact that the Bush Administration is frantically trying to counter with the usual menu of lies, slanders, and bellicose threats. But increasingly rebellious Latin America, fed up with and resisting the Washington-directed social and economic devastation of the past decade, wants nothing to do with Bush, Rice, and Rumsfeld's sputtering campaign to isolate and attack Cuba and Venezuela.
