Who wants to live anywhere near any section 8 housing? And why should taxpayers provide anything comfortable to bums, much less something that others are paying for themselves? Government should erect large barracks for bums and guard the gates. One for men, one for women, and one for children. The bums should have set hours and required to work to maintain it. They can be cared for and kept sheltered without panhandling and bothering people and hurting each other. Their kids can get decent care and education as well even if the parents are too incompetent to work. Purina could be contracted to provide a really cheap and foul tasting yet nutritous "Bum Chow" to feed them that would be without value on the black market due to the flavor. The could even educate those willing to study and learn. The bums should be allowed to check out during the day to look for work or go to work, but still be required to do their part in the shelter and given breath tests when they return as well as regular random drug screening.
