I agree. But again, as it relates to this discussion, when the niece comes out, nothing is changed vis-a-vis Auntie's views; nothing is lost. On the other hand, something could be gained. Well, there's a big ol' statement. Taking a bit at a time: Your experience may be the opposite, and mine is the opposite of yours. I've seen several instances where what I propose has come to pbutt. Heck, it has happened in my own family. As to "everything gay is wonderful": that's kind of a weird statement. Being gay is simply a statement of one's loveual orientation; neither good nor bad, it simply exists. Finally, I and the vast majority of gay people that I know doesn't think that "anybody who doesn't think that gay is great is a hater." Clearly, there are haters. Bill Taylor would be an example of that sort. But we understand that others that oppose all or part of what we seek are not "haters". That's true; I tend to be more serious here than are you. It's a serious topic to me, as it affects MY life. In real life, I suspect that our approaches are more alike than different. As I said, we are speaking in generalities. No, I'm not; I'm saying that it is very often true that a person who was formerly a doubter will become a supporter because they see that gay people aren't as Bill, for example, portrays us. For Clem the hillbilly in backwards baseball cap, a chaw in his cheek, and the Rush is Right bumper sticker on his tractor, moving from the abstract to the concrete knowledge of his sister or aunt or brother or President of the Grange Hall tends to benefit us. Oh, I admit that freely. I don't know, however, of any gay people who hate hetero people because of their loveual orientation. The reverse can't be said.
