Michael Legel Well, that's sort of a separate issue. I really don't see outsourcing being stopped, especially as natural and artificial barriers to trade are constantly being broken down more and more. It's just that free market thumpers (of which I am one, in a backhanded way) pretend that everything will be solved by the boney invisible hand of Adam Smith. People like Deuteros like to pretend that everything will be solved if the market can just take its course. However, they conveniently ignore that things like education, currently provided in a lackluster manner by the state, don't just materialize out of thin air and that markets often have little incentive to promote education beyond facilitation of the transient skills that make the market function. That's why we end up with so many people with technical degrees that can't re-adapt to changing market conditions, likely aren't very literate anyway, and frequently end up shafted. I've certainly known a lot of Web designers (really not a very impressive skill) making a killing in the 1990s who now work in bars, and I wouldn't be surprised if many in America are stuck asking if you'd like fries with that.
