It isn't just a few people - the outsourcing has progressed to the software and engineering industries. The only way to be sure your job won't be outsourced is to get into something that is a direct service to the public, like doctor or plumber or restaurantuer, something like that. Anything that can be done in an office, without close contact with the customer, is probably going overseas, sooner or later. Right... IBM has been innovating practically daily, racks up hundreds of patents, and then... sends the work overseas to build those things that the patents describe. If we want to compete, we get to work for burger-flipping wages and live 4 families to 1 house, or 3 generations to 1 house, like they do in the 3rd world. What are ya gonna do? Get a better degree? Naw, that won't help - your job will still be overseas. Boeing was is still building the better airplane. The aspect with which I'm familiar is software - Boeing inspects their code, Airbus does not. Airbus has had at least 5 software-induced crashes due to bugs in the software, whereas Boeing has not. Management could... You ever see the film of the Airbus that was trying to do a touch and go, and crashed beyond the end of the runway? It was trying to gain albreastude after touching down, and the dumbbutt software was in a landing mode, and wouldn't let the pilot apply full power to get back in the air. It finally crashed, killing the pilot. You can always cut corners and make something cheaper, but Boeing is still where the quality is. Dave Head
