At the height of the software job surge just before the collapse in 2000, the damn government was allowing the Indians to come here and take American jobs for... Engineers, and everybody else, will be making what the market deems they're worth. There is absolutely no butturance of attaining a certain income level in this country. And yes, there is outsourcing of legal document preparation oversees. I'm personally familiar with that since I have legal clients. A little bigoted, aren't we? If you had exposure to other countries' cultures, you'd see their way of life is in many ways better than ours. It's just a question of whether you value materialism and the accummulation of wealth more than you do the deteroriation of marriages and other social issues. This is a politicized issue and different people have different perspectives. I tend to believe the best action is not taking a stance like capping visa allocations, etc. and just letting everything sort itself out. Again, nobody is enbreastled to make a specific amount just because they have a certain education level. Some take the view that's not the job of the government. You can't want the government out of your life when you disagree with the notion -- say when it comes to health care -- and then cry protection when you'd benefit. You have to take one view or the other. Oh, please. The rest of our economy has been predicted scads of times. If 9-11 didn't cause it, this sure as hell won't.
