The corrupt Parks Department, always generous to contractors with our tax money for unnecessary and unnecessarily prolonged construction work, is once again plotting to deny us our Consbreastutionally guaranteed right of freedom of buttembly - ------------------------------------------------- Large Gatherings At Central Park Could Be Limited NY1 News Tuesday, April 19, 2005 APRIL 19TH, 2005 Large demonstrations in Central Park will become rare if the Parks Department gets its way. Parks officials want to reduce the number of gatherings of 50,000 or more people, like an anti-war protest last month. Under new rules proposed Monday, such large gatherings in the park would be limited to six a year, four of which would be reserved for the annual summer concerts by the Metropolitan Opera and the New York Philharmonic. In addition, only the last two weeks of August and first two weeks of September would be open for the remaining two demonstrations or events. The Parks Department is holding a public hearing next month. It is not clear when the rules may be approved. The hearing will be at the Chelsea Recreation Center (30 West 25th Street) on May 20 at 11 a.m. You must to register with the Parks Department's Legal Office ahead of time if you want to testify.
