There were no supplies at the superdome, they didn't even decide to use it until the last possible minute! There were supplies offshore on a navy ship, but FEMA wouldn't let them come in. Other people, the Red Cross, wanted to distribute supplies, food and water at the Stadium, but FEMA wouldn't let them do so because they belived that if people in there got food and water they wouldn't want to leave when the evacuation order was given.

First of all they weren't being "LOOTED", they were being "salvaged". There was a critical need for these items, the stores weren't open and the critically needed lifesaving supplies were being stored and spoiling. You "LOOT" diamond, watches, tv's, gold, etc., items that aren't needed to save lives and-or minister to the victims immediate needs!

Don't use the term "LOOTING" so loosely! You don't loot bandages, iodine, splints, crutches. You don't loot water, milk, food. You don't loot, matresses, beds, blankets! In an emergency-disaster area, FEMA and the responsible "First Responders", should have had a list or an idea, of what kinds of "takings" represented "LOOTING", so that it could be easily distinguished from "salvaging" for human emergency needs. Not having done even that superficial level of planning is telling... very telling about what was on the minds of the various responsible agencies.

Which shows how little you've read, or how little you know, or how little you care! Which is it? Here's your clue: Inside the Superdome there was no air conditioning or power, so the air wasn't moving! The hot southern summer sun beating down on the pavement and the stadium would raise the temperature inside to levels well above those outside. Okay?

On a 90 degree day in New York, you will find that many subway platforms register well over 100 degrees underground. Or haven't you ever noticed this? West 4th street often reaches 105 to 110 on 90 degree days, sometimes even 120. Which is why the subways used to have water fountains on those pillars. Now women with children and the elderly have to seriously plan their subway trips on hot days. Wish Boston Mike would do something about that.
