Especially as it also entailed his entire household. All the male servants also had to perform Brit Milah. Were the Hebrews uncircumcised at Sinai? I always buttumed they were. I understand it's difficult to be a Jew before Judah existed but the essence of the imprinting a sign on the body denoting the bearer as "a believer" of what became the Jewish faith was already being performed before Sinai. I think maybe it's more fair to say that, at Sinai the Jewish faith was formally begun but the core "conversion rite" had been practised for generations. So maybe we have a case of Jewish practices (or practices that would later be called Jewish!) occurring before actual codification and formal acceptance of those practices. So, if Moses HAD been circumcised, it must have taken a great effort on the part of Miriam and the Pharoah's daughter not to let this information get out (pardon any pun).
