Why don't you just grow up and cut your infantile insults. It was a *different thread* - some guys ranting about white phosphorus. Do you understand the difference between a thread and a newsgroup? As to your infantile insults, it is pretty obvious to everyone that you are desparate because (a) you don't know what you are talking about, (b) you have no case, and (c) your mother was rather lax in raising you and never taught you how to behave in public. BTW, the only reason for you to think that thread has anything to do with this one is if Tim McGaughy is your real name or one of your aliases! Is that it? :-) You have proven yourself time and time again to not only be an idiot, but a rather rude one. Oh, so *that* is your real issue! Spitzer is a researcher who merely published a paper with results that you didn't like and that some right-wing loons quoted incorrectly and out of context. Spitzer studied people who (a) tried a "change your loveual orientation program" and who (b) self-reported themselves as success stories. He found that there was a fraction of these people who were not damaged by the process and who weren't lying or fooling themselves about the outcome. Meanwhile, other research (which Spitzer was no doubt aware of), showed that in nearly all cases, these treatments fail. The fact that a very tiny fraction of people can for unknown reasons go through one of these programs without coming out somewhat messed up is an interesting result, but of no practical significance. And that is true whether you like the results or not. Spitzer never claimed the programs work for most people, but rather simply found that a few people got through more or less unscathed. It would be like finding a few birds that, due to some quirk, thrive on the bird flu virus. Oh, and in case you didn't notice, Spitzer published those results in a conference attended by professionals in his field. What is really incredible, however, is that your rant about Spitzer's results were posted over a year ago, and you *still* have it fresh in your memory and are dragging it out again. I guess you haven't quite gotten over the fact that I'd trust a professional like Spitzer over you. And that makes you a rather pitiful little man with an ego way out of proportion to your abilities. We were talking about what he discovered in the course of treating a number of individuals, not what he found up by dropping by the neighborhood church and chatting with Father So-and-so over afternoon tea. Now you are imagining things. I gave you a citation to a couple of newspaper articles that provided a range of numbers that happened to overlap those given by the therapist in question. You "re-re-quoted" something I might have said but that had nothing to do with what we were discussion. If you want to have a serious discussion, come back when you learn to behave like an adult.
