In Biblical times, you are lucky if you eat meat once a week, you are very dependent upon a good crop and harvest, and it takes you 7 hours out of your day just to prepare an evening meal, because it always has to be fresh, unless you learn to pickle your meat through the use of salt, but even then, there is nothing like fresh meat, and everything is made from scratch just about - no short cuts like today's ready to eat meals.
