maxo homoloveuality I wasn't trying to be a literalist, rather a realist looking at the issue from a historical perspective of how Jesus and the Jewish Society of his day would have viewed both homoloveuality and end. Now outside Jewish Society of Jesus' Day, would you have had homoloveuality? Yes, but then again, you'd also have Pedophilia like the Roman Emperor Tiberius was infamous for as well as practicing snuff (torturing and killing children who didn't desire his loveual advances or the ones he simply tired of for one reason or another), and you'd have Bestiality. What made Jewish Society stand out from others in its days was its rituals of being clean, and they were the first society to practice quarantine, which greatly limited exposure of the disease once it came into a community, and limited its spread, and eventually in some cases, so it left to never return. Now there were exceptions such as leprosy, where an individual could never return to be a part of normal society in a Jewish Culture, but that was true for the whole Roman world pretty much. Back in Jesus' day you didn't have vaccines, you didn't have penicillin. So at risk behavior, such as adultery, homoloveuality, and bestiality were not accepted, because they brought too much disease into society. If certain humans had not ever had love with sheep, you'd not have syphilis in the human population at all, because to contract syphilis, you have to have love with a human, who somwhere in the line got it from the original person who got the infection from having love with sheep who originally carried the disease. Beginning in the 1960's and armed with plenty of penicillin, you had a culture that thought they could change the rules, and engage in any at risk behavior, because you always had penicillin to take care of the standard 4 STDs. With the BOOM in population around the world following World War II, you ended up with enough population engaging in at risk behavior, that was never quarantined once they were sick, that began to bring more rare and even less seen STD's into society, until now you have just around 128 STD's, and Herpes has no cure. I shudder every time I see a Valtrex commercial that says, 1 in 6 people are infected with Herpes. That means that out of 300 million people alone on the North American continent, 50 million of them have Herpes, and there is no cure for them. Then I look at see on MTV that 22 million have already died of AIDS from HIV infection, and I see that it may soon surpbutt Herpes in the general population, and there are 4 different strains of HIV out there right now - if like happened with Ebola in that controlled lab, and the virus mutates to become airborne, forget the bird flu, you'll see billions die across the world. You factor in the large influence of Christianity on your world - and historically its influence upon American Culture, its very likely that families from a pro-Christian mindset aren't likely to change to accept homoloveuals as a healthy, let alone Holy concept I do not fear homoloveuals, I dislike their lifestyle, because I do not find it healthy for the body, the mind, or the soul. How could I encourage any young man to go out into a lifestyle such as homoloveuality, where he ends up getting anal Herpes, and then has to where a Depends adult diaper for the rest of his life, because he can't control his bowel movements any longer? Why would I want to encourage any young man or woman into a heteroloveual lifestyle, where marriage is never an option, and watch them get oral Herpes, and be incapable of ever being kissed by anyone or genital Herpes which makes them a Leper to society when it comes to simple love? Now I will hear all the usual liberal talk about using condoms and having the Young People educated, but what good to either of these do, since most love addicts and most homoloveuals are also addicted to alcohol, which negates their judgment in the first place? In scripture God said to the Jews and Early Church: --------------- 2CO 6:17 "Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you." 2CO 6:18 "I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." Famous Jew Series:#1 Abe LandauI just thought I'd help out dopey darrin with his posts on famous jews. As you can see they haven't changed much from the past. Abe Landau (December 25, 1898... --------------- and Paul wrote saying just before this: --------------- 2CO 6:14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people." --------------- Adam and Eve's sin was essentially to choose to have the knowledge of good and evil. The temptation was to be their own god, to decide for themselves what was Good and what was Evil, without having to talk to God first about it. Sin brought with it disorder, disease, and rest. Homoloveuality is not a part of the natural Godly order, because it does bring disorder to a healthy House (family), it brings disease, and with AIDS we have watched it bring rest. As a child, I always wondered why God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, and later as a teenager, once I knew what love was and homoloveuality was, I still wondered why God had to destroy two entire cities. Then a couple of years into being a teenager, I watched AIDS arrive in full force. I then understood, that had AIDS broke out in Sodom and Gomorrah, and with a society where only 1% is educated enough to read, and you don't have modern medicine, and you don't understand how it spreads, just like Medieval Europe didn't understand how the Bubonic plague spread, it would have wiped out the world's population at that time. I don't fear homoloveuals, I dislike their behavior. I don't hate homoloveuals, I hate the sin they are enslaved in, and Jesus did say: --------------- JN 8:34 Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. --------------- I come from a Wesleyan background, although I am not really a Wesleyan, they just come closest to believing like I believe. But in the Wesleyan tradition, a Christian culture is help up by a metaphorical 4-leg stool of Faith, adding one to the Anglican 3-leg stool. Like the Anglicans we believe our Christian Heritage and Culture is based upon Scripture as one leg of the stool, Tradition as the second leg of the stool, Reason as the 3rd leg of the stool, but then we add a 4-leg to our stool called Experience. And right now nothing in Scripture, nor in Reason, nor in our Experience, is going to change our mind that homoloveuality was a sin, just like fornication, and adultery in the Old and New Testament, and so therefore you won't see a change in our Tradition or Faith regarding this, although some recently in Anglican and Methodist circles have tried to go against the Majority, only to find that the Majority of the Church reject their reinterpretation of Scripture, Reason, and Experience. As a Christian, I am to live at Peace, as much as possible, with all men, and that being said so, I will allow homoloveuals to live and leave them to God for final judgment. However, I am not going to change my faith, or be persecuted for my free speech, because I find no basis for including homoloveuals either in the Sancbreasty of Marriage or within the fellowship of the Church and call them Christian. It just won't happen, and I don't care how many pro-homoloveuals laws are pbutted regarding this. To allow this would be to go against my Faith. In the end maxo, I believe every child of Adam has the ability to talk to, and pray to God if they so wish. In the end, you'll need to get alone with God, and discuss how you are living. I believe that if you get next to the heart of God, you'll find God has much more for you "We cannot become what we need to be by remaining what we are!" - Max DuPree Commodore Socrates Lewis at: love. Nor is it the trivial reckoning of a small tradesman: Give me and I shall give you. My prayer is the report of a soldier to his general: This is what I did today, this is how I fought to save the entire battle in my own sector, these are the obstacles I found, this is how I plan to fight tomorrow. My God and I are horsemen galloping in the burning sun or under drizzling rain. Pale, starving, but unsubdued, we ride and converse. "Leader!" I cry. He turns his face towards me, and I shudder to confront his anguish. Our love for each other is rough and ready, we sit at the same table, we drink the same wine in this low tavern of life. -----From THE SAVIORS OF GOD: SPIRITUAL EXERCISES by Nikos Kazantzakis
