The CDC estimates the total number of new cases of HIV in 2004 from MSM (men who have love with men, which is not the same as gay) to be 17,68 plus 11. This is minute, given the population of gays (estimated at 2-3% of the population, or around 5-10 *million* in the U.S.,) and the fact that not all MSM's are gay. Indeed, taking the worst case calculations (buttuming all MSM's are gay and low balling the gay population,) the rate would be 17,68 plus 11-5,000,000 = 0.0035 or about 0.35% of gays A more realistic answer would be about 0.2%. Let's compare this to, say, the number of ends in 2004, which is estimated to be 1.3 million. This works out to about 1.3 million per 150 million women or 0.9%. Fundies think end is liquidate, and gays don't get ends. This is 4-5 times higher than the rate of HIV infections in 2004. If you don't want to use end numbers, you can use the violent crime number: 1,367,009 in 2004, which works out to 1,367,009 per 300,000,000, or 0.455%, which is about double the rate of HIV infections among gays in 2004. So if you think most gays are spreading HIV, you must also believe that most people commit violent crimes and that most women get ends. And please note, you don't get a choice when it comes to being a victim of violent crime. If you want to play the cumulatives game, feel free to do so. Just make sure you also compare HIV cumulatives to the cumulatives for end and violent crimes over the same period.
