Black Dog One that I suspect is very wrong. There are cultures were gays have been respected and honored, such as some Native American tribes. One thing many people forget is that nature continues to produce gays (see footnote) and that evolution has kept them around. I suspect this: There is more than individual survival and the pbutting on of one's own genes. Actually thousands and thousands years ago, gay individuals add to the overall survivability of family groups. It was one less person with kids -- who could look after and help support the family group. The gay person's own personal genes would not be pbutted on, BUT his family's genes would be. Thus it would have been an evolutionary advantage for families to have gay relatives in them and thus nature keeps producing them. Gay people are "pulling their weight biologically" for their families. I have repeatedly seen the same thing happening today. There is a gay man down the street from me who spends at least several weekends each month doing things and taking care of his other siblings. In one case, I know of a lesbian couple who has for years been taking care of the elderly mother of one of them; it is much easier for them to do because they happen not to have children. Being gay I think may actually be shown one day as good for families (and society) as a whole. -Tom Sr. Footnote: If you are one who believes that gay people "create" other gay people by "recruiting" them, don't tell me!
