I agree that they may have gone a bit overboard in their dislike for the self-aggrandizing Kerry. However, NO ONE can doubt that his testimony before Congress was anything but treasonable. I remember seeing it at the time. As I understand it, few if any of the Swift Boat vets were on his boat, but they always operated in close proximity of each other, i.e., close enough to see what was going on in his boat. However, even discounting that entirely, his behavior before congress was enough to prevent me from even thinking about voting for him. His behavior was completely inexcusable. FWIW, I served four years on active duty in the Navy (six more in the reserves), I have 50% more time in a combat zone than Kerry (Korean War), 35+ combat patrols in a Navy P2V patrol planter (my squadron lost three of 12 aircraft and we lost 16 men), and I have a few modest decorations and medals. BTW, I had my Honorable Discharge at the time I left the Navy. Why did it take Kerry so long to get his? He still hasn't released his records. Does he have something to hide? I am not making any claims of heroism, we were just doing our jobs. These statements are just to short-circuit the usual claims about "How do you know what it's like?" or "why aren't you in the service?" I know what it's like... Regards... Tom
