One could call The Bar Kochba rebellion (Bar Kochba was a false Messiah 132-35) the last religious motivated war, that was started by the Jews. It caused the rest of 500,000 Jews; thousands were sold into slavery or taken into captivity. Without their illusion that Bar Kochba was their long awaited Messiah, the Jews probably would not have started the rebellion..... BTW what will happen to the unbelievers if the Messiah shows up in Israel? In Christianity (which has borrowed quite a few ideas from the JEWS BTW) the unbeliever is to be destroyed, during the last days.... Jews have lend money to warring sides, f.e. to Japan, when it fought against Russia in the 1900's...
