In a letter addressed to The New York Times editor Bill Keller, Treasury Secretary John Snow said the daily was irresponsible in revealing the bank account tracking programme and dealt a hard blow to US security. Snow accused the NYT of destroying a highly efficient counter-terrorism plan, as it alerted persons over methods and sources used to detect their accounts. Obviously upset on Monday, President George W. Bush said that the revelation made "our war against terrorism more difficult". Replying to the allegations, Keller said he listened attentively to the government arguments, but he considered the case a public issue and therefore his daily made it public. hr-rma-obf * ================================================================ NY Transfer News Collective * A Service of Blythe Systems Since 1985 - Information for the Rest of Us ================================================================ -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (GNU-Linux) iD8DBQFEohbGHwEfpL2U00kRArjtAKChWB8oapZE8j-zEyG0SDoE-IRaQgCfSNGz lBqPb0+WFu3OQTVD0pARoGA= =++Lk -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
