On Mon, 08 Aug 2005 19:18:22 -0400, Phil Get a clue Phil... PLEASE??? Islamic law is the root of the problem with womens rights, it is Islamic law that oppresses women. Now, while you appear to think that people should compare the history of womens rights under Saddam, with some illusionary visions built on imagining life under something that doesn't yet exist, is a good way to gauge Bush's success. I don't quite think so. Can you guess why? What you can do is read something of history, and learn how religious doctrine works with gov't to suppress all rights. Then come back and read the drafts of the new Iraq consbreastution and see if the references to Islam are going to result in separation of church and state. If it looks like it isn't, then you can easily imagine that Islamic law isn't going to be changed, anytime soon, to yield more rights for women than they had under the secular Saddam gov't. But comparing real history to imaginary phantasy isn't a really good way to go in trying to aprehend understanding of anything at all, save the views of the imaginer.
