A few drug producers, and a few politicians around the globe are watching how you react to the threat of Bird Flu (BF). Bird Flu is not the treat you might think it is. Even though lots of politicians are talking up the threat, few scientists who know what they are talking about have the same fear factor that people like Sean Hannity had tonight on his Fox show. Here are some of the facts you may or may not have been told: 1. NO Person has contracted BF without first touching a chicken, or other bird. 2. It is not airborne. 3. It is not able to be spread from one human to another. 4. It has been on the scene since 1997. 5. It has a rest rate of 50 to 55 percent in humans. 6. There are 8 mutations that must take place before it can be transmitted from human to human. So far, BF has only mutated 4 of the 8 ways it must change to be a threat to millions. 7. Very few people have contracted BF so far. 8. The changes that must take place in order for it to be a threat to humans may take many years or even never take place according to many MD's and scietists in the media. 9. According to recent annoncements in the media, Tamiflu has been found to be totally ineffective against BF. There is no need to buy it. 10. The reason so many people died in the 1918 flu epidemic is because there were no effective means for treating pneumonia. 11. Just as with any other flu, the virus is not the treat, but the subsiquent infections that are triggered by the invading virus. Most people who die from a case of the flu have weak immune systems and are either sick, elderly, or very young. Today, we would not see pandemic like the one in 1918 because of much improved methods of treating secondary infections caused by any flu virus.
